
Mrs. Carla Bittner, Superintendent
As an educator for over two decades, Mrs. Carla Bittner has a proven track record as an award-winning educator and leader in New Jersey. During her tenure, she has implemented a full-day preschool program, led extensive community partnership efforts, and fostered an environment of professional growth and development.
Service to and connection with others are essential components of Mrs. Bittner’s core values. Her strengths in instructional leadership and systemic thinking, as well as her collaborative approach to growth and her experience with sending districts in a PreK through Grade 12 system are an asset to the communities of Barrington, Lawnside, Merchantville, and Haddon Heights. Mrs. Bittner believes in leveraging the strengths of the communities in order to provide an engaging, meaningful educational experience for every child.
Through a shared vision of learning, collaboration with all stakeholders, and transparent communication, Mrs. Bittner is dedicated to the continuous growth and improvement of the school district. Her deep passion for education and sincere love for teaching and learning guide every decision she makes, to always do what is best for children.
Mrs. Bittner earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Houghton College in New York and a master’s degree in Reading Education from Rowan University, as well as her leadership certification from Drexel University. She is working toward a doctorate in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.
Beyond her professional achievements, Mrs. Bittner’s greatest source of pride is her family. Mrs. Bittner lives in Audubon with her husband, a fellow educator, and two sons. The Bittner Family loves to play boardgames, go on hikes, rewatch and reread Harry Potter, and sing along to Hamilton.
