Emergency Preparedness
In the event that schools are placed in a lockdown and students are not permitted to leave, we have put into effect the following management plan. All students will be moved to one central location, most likely the cafeteria, multi-purpose room or auditorium in your child's school. In addition we have ample water and food supplies (peanut butter and crackers) in order to keep the students in the building for 24–48 hours if necessary. We also have plans to shut off the HVAC systems to prevent outside air from entering the building, as well as sealing off windows as best as possible.
In addition, the principals will be supplied with flashlights and a battery operated radio to keep updated on emergency information. We have also purchased two-way radios to be used between the superintendent's office and the principals of each school, should our main phone system as well as our cell phones be inoperable.
Please feel free to contact your child's principal with any questions or concerns you may have.
